Don’t you wonder sometimes if the weight loss industry is just as confused as you are about how to speed your metabolism and lose weight? One person says this, the other says that, and in the end, you’re more overwhelmed than when you started.

It’s hard to know who to listen to because when you’re ready to change your LIFE, everything sounds good! So why should you listen to me? Because I’ll share with you a true method that works. If you’re looking for the ‘magic silver bullet’, you will be disappointed, but if you want something that will FINALLY speed your metabolism and start to show some RESULTS, then listen up my friend.

I want to say something important before I continue. There isn’t just ONE thing you can do to burn away the layers of fat on your body. It was accumulated over time and it will take an accumulation of things to get it off. We’re talking about a lifestyle change (including good nutrition and exercise) that can bring you results for the rest of your life. You already know how falling back on your old habits can throw you completely off track and add more fat to your body. Make a promise to yourself that you will do whatever it takes to see results and KEEP them.

To speed your metabolism every day, the first thing you need to do is start eating a healthy breakfast within one hour of waking up. No, not a big coffee and doughnut or fast food, but rather a meal full of nutrients and fiber. This will jump start your body every morning so you have enough energy to make it to your next meal. Here’s a good analogy for you. It’s like filling up the gas tank of your luxury car with top-quality gas before a long trip. You can’t expect your car to make it on a tank full of water or nothing at all and you can’t expect your body to make it running off of sugar. Making excuses about not having time for breakfast is not acceptable if you want to lose weight. Spend that time on something better, like preparing a good meal.

Want a few ideas of healthy breakfast foods? Try these out.

Green Tea- It’s known to speed your metabolism and give you energy without the crash of caffeine. Drinking a glass of green tea (hot or cold) with breakfast will count for your liquid intake but if you don’t like the taste, you can try it in supplement form with a glass of water or orange juice.

Fiber- This is a very satisfying food that makes you feel full for a lot longer than a nutritionally-empty, sugary breakfast. There are some delicious cold cereals that are high in fiber (10 grams or so) as well as high-fiber pancakes, toast, english muffins, or traditional oatmeal. If you’re more of an instant oatmeal eater, buy an organic brand because it encounters less processing.

Protein- Proteins are essential building blocks for every type of cell in our bodies. Without sufficient amounts of protein, our bodies can lose a lot of muscle, gain fat much easier, and experience a whole slew of other health problems. Get your serving of protein in your breakfast by adding eggs (cooked to your liking), chicken or turkey sausage, cottage cheese or organic peanut butter.

Fruits- These are “good carbs” that will also work with your digestive system to keep you fuller longer. Top your pancakes or cottage cheese with them, have a fruit cup on the side or find a juice without high fructose corn syrup (hint: fresh squeezed).

I can’t stress enough how important it is to combine the foods mentioned above for the best results. This is because they work together to create different chemical reactions that will help speed your metabolism by themselves. Eating a nutritional breakfast will help start your morning off right, give you energy to last for hours, and put you in a good mood to you can take on your day with full force. That’s probably more than you were thinking breakfast could do, huh?
