Yahoo Health has assembled many expert tips to keep your stomach flat and lean. Here are a few of them.
Eat at the ideal hour: Have a snack that contains protein between 3 PM and 4 PM. It will boost your metabolism and balance your blood sugar. This is providing you are an individual who works during the normal 8 – 5 work day.  If you work nights you will have to adapt your schedule accordingly.
Indulge on a belly-fat zapping hormone: Eat as close to zero grams of sugar as possible. This will keep your insulin levels low, and also keep your glucagon levels high. Glucagon, a hormone, helps keep your belly flat. For clarity this especially includes High Fructose Corn Syrup, as this compound significantly elevates insulin levels.
Masticate on this: Chewing your food inhibits bloating. Chew your food until it is like applesauce in your mouth. Digestion begins in your mouth, and better-digested food means less gas and bloating. Chewing your food also increases calories burned, as well as increases the amount of enzymes produced increasing your opportunity for enhanced nutritional absorption.
Portions matter: Eating portion-controlled meals will reduce your abdominal flab. This is common sense, but needs to be stated because too many restaurants deliver portions that are easily twice the amount a normal adult needs.
Watch your intake of refined carbohydrates: One of the crucial reasons people develop diabetes type II is their overconsumption of refined carbs and sugars, which causes their pancreas to continually pump out more and more insulin.
Have some healthy fats: Another way to increase your insulin sensitivity is by optimizing the rate at which your body processes carbohydrates by eating plenty of healthy fats Omega 3 fatty acids. Fats are extremely important in your diet and not many people, maybe including yourself consume enough of them on a daily basis.
The healthy fats include extra-virgin olive oil, flax seed oil, and fats from plant sources such as nuts, seeds, avocados, and coconuts. Failure to include these fats in your diet will result in many of the nutrients consumed during the meal not being absorbed by your body.
Stay active all day: Most people hardly ever exercise, only a small 10% tend to exercise daily, but then they succumb to long periods of inactivity during the rest of their day. This is asking for trouble. All of us should be making choices every day to move more, walk more, take the steps more often and the elevator less.
